The brief was clear: Danni wanted a sleek, modern grey gloss kitchen with a strong central island, seamless stone detailing, and materials that would perform effortlessly for years to come.
Stone Synergy worked closely with the wider build team to ensure precision installation, despite the typical challenges that accompany new builds… such as trade delays and weather-related interruptions associated with the UK!

The client had a specific vision in mind and, working closely with the expert team from Stone Synergy, was able to select the perfect kitchen worktops to match that vision.
Ceramic Worktops: Nero Zimbabwe in Simply Ceramic
For the main worktop runs, the client selected Simply Ceramic Nero Zimbabwe in a 20mm thickness. This deep, refined ceramic surface delivers a bold yet understated presence, perfectly suited to the grey gloss cabinetry.
Ceramic worktops (also commonly referred to as porcelain worktops) have become one of the most sought-after surfaces in UK kitchen design. Nero Zimbabwe offers exceptional performance alongside its dramatic aesthetic with benefits including:

At the centre of the kitchen sits a striking island topped with Compac Ice Black quartz, also in a 20mm thickness. This surface was chosen to contrast the ceramic worktops while elevating the island as the focal point of the space.
Quartz is renowned for its balance of beauty and practicality. Ice Black delivers a rich, polished finish with a refined depth that pairs effortlessly with modern cabinetry and integrated lighting. Its non-porous surface makes it hygienic, low-maintenance, and ideal for everyday use.
The island features mitred waterfall ends, where the quartz cascades seamlessly down to the floor. This technique requires precision fabrication by experts such as Stone Synergy, with the stone cut at a 45-degree angle to create a near-invisible join. The result is a continuous flow of material that enhances both the visual impact and the sense of craftsmanship.
The island also includes hob cut-outs, pop-up sockets, and generous preparation space to reinforce its role as both a functional workspace and a social hub.
Technical Details and Finishing Touches
The installation was completed with meticulous attention to detail, including a sleek undermount sink for a clean, uninterrupted finish and precisely executed hob cut-outs to ensure seamless functionality. The decision to exclude upstands allowed the cabinetry and stone surfaces to flow effortlessly, reinforcing the kitchen’s modern aesthetic.
To enhance light and visual depth, the client opted for a mirrored splashback, which adds a refined sense of space and sophistication. While the sink and taps were client-supplied, Stone Synergy worked closely with the wider project team to ensure flawless integration with the stone worktops.
